According to researchers at the University of Toronto, eating a certain combination of heart-healthy foods, including almonds, oatmeal, lean meats and fish, can help reduce LDL, or "bad," cholesterol levels as much as a first-line statin drug. This gives patients a new reason to ask for a shopping list rather than a prescription at the first sign of high cholesterol levels.
